About the Founder
Bay Area based entrepreneur and sustainability investor, Gary Schefsky began Under the Willow as an innovative way to unlock in others a passion for collecting and enjoying art.

Gary Schefsky has created an intimate setting that includes both an indoor white cube exhibtion space as well as a flourishing garden that allows video work to be projected into the Willow Tree itself.
Throughout his life Schefsky has invested in and supported the long-term and ever-developing practices of contemporary artists whose work ranges from straightforward photography, painting, sculpture and textile to video installation. One particular area of focus within his personal collection is artwork that investigates issues surrounding the landscape as a way to better understand one’s environment, its overlapping histories and the potentialities of its future.
